Influence of Self-Irradiation Damage on the Pu-Based Superconductor PuCoGa5 Probed by Muon Spin Rotation

We report on muon spin rotation (µSR) measurements in PuCoGa5 single crystals in a 400 day-old sample in order to investigate the self-irradiation (aging) effect. Compared with the results in 25 day-old sample, the µSR line widths in the 400 day-old sample are found to be anomalously narrow. It is considered that the narrowing of line width is caused by random defects, which are created by Pu disintegration, namely, vortex segments are pinned randomly and three-dimensionally by the defects.
