A crystalline electric field (CEF) model of localized 5f4 electrons is proposed to explain the characteristics of magnetic phase transitions in NpTGa5 with T = Co, Ni and Rh. The model takes a doublet and a singlet as local states, and involves dipolar and quadrupolar intersite interactions in the mean-field theory. Varied ordering phenomena are found depending on the interaction parameters, which are consistent with the experimentally observed behaviors.
