Entanglement is a valuable resource in quantum information processing and thus its detection and characterization is an important procedure. We review some of the criteria for separability and provide an efficient and physically realizable method by which entanglement may be detected within the “distant labs” paradigm.

- Pure entangled states are easily detected. For example, one can check whether the reduced density operator with respect to one subsystem is pure, which indicates separability.
