Novel States of Matter Induced by Frustration [Vol. 79 No. 1]
In the present Special Topics “Novel State of Matter Induced by Frustration”, we aim to review an active research front of frustration in condensed matter, ranging from novel orderings of geometrically frustrated magnets including triangular, kagome, and pyrochlore antiferromagnets, various intriguing phenomena exhibited by spinel compounds, recent advances in spin-glass ordering related to chirality, and novel properties realized in itinerant frustrated systems to the properties of multiferroics where frustration provides a strong tie between the magnetic and dielectric degrees of freedom, and even ferroelectric relaxors where frustration and randomness often play crucial roles.
